We are interested in many different endeavors and partnerships that recognize the inherent interconnectedness of everything and that explore placing the well-being of the whole of us – as individuals, communities, and society – front and center. What we are passionate about is exploring how we go about what we’re doing as it seems that many endeavors are significantly restricted by disconnected, rigid, and limited approaches focused on specific outcomes, inhibiting the heart of the matter from being at the forefront.
In each endeavor, our emphasis is to engage in an open, exploratory way – exploring the connection between whatever we’re specifically doing, with the whole of life. We bring together disconnected efforts and organizations. In all we do, we explore the moment itself being healing, fulfilling, rejuvenating, liberating, and transformative, rather than focusing solely on an end result.
Here are some foundational orientations – this is what feels like “home” and guides all we do at OMAH:
We are interested in (1) each of us exploring for ourselves a direct and immediate relationship with the vastness of existence as the primary guide to our endeavors and (2) exploring the interconnectedness of our lives, communities, and world. We want to co-create spaces for each of us to figure out things for ourselves while also coming together in community with and learning from each other.
We recognize that everyone is on their own journey and at the same time all our journeys are connected.
We recognize that fundamentally none of us know what it’s really like to be another person, or what each of us needs to heal, change, and grow. It's for each of us to see for ourselves. We want to share and explore with each other while honoring that.
We acknowledge the whole, exploring if it’s possible to consider the well-being of everyone and everything involved.
We don’t claim to have clarity on how to approach this, but want to explore it with all who are involved.
We sense there is something universal that connects us all and we’re interested in exploring that. We recognize it cannot be owned or possessed.
We're not looking to be a bubble separated from others. We are interested in exploring space for all of our paths.
We are interested in exploring fundamental change and new possibilities that emerge through unforced, honest, open, and compassionate inquiry, exploration, and interaction, acknowledging the vastness of the unknown and that we’re all healing and learning along the way.
We are interested in observing and being aware of all we can inwardly (e.g., our thinking, assumptions, biases, feelings, sensations) and outwardly (e.g., other people, their state of being, and our broader surroundings) as we suspect this awareness may be the grounds for deep change to occur.
We recognize that conscious intentions are limited regarding deep, fundamental insight and change as they ultimately come about in mystery. Thus we have an orientation to exploring change in an unforced way, allowing the energy to do the work that arises with new understanding and insight emerging from the unknown.
We realize we don't have answers and recognize a need to come together honestly, openly and compassionately, in order to explore new possibilities.
We want to lean into and welcome (instead of avoiding) breakdowns and inward and outward conflict as they arise.
As we approach conflict, we’re interested in noticing our emotional reactions, and first giving them space and attention to help prevent them dominating our interactions.
We then propose dealing with conflict through honesty, openness, and compassion, recognizing that the unconditional innocence, care, and love we see in children is still in each of us.
As we resolve conflict, we are interested in exploring many new possibilities that naturally emerge from our innate passions and care, where people work together unforced through discovered shared passion.
It’s a “we” thing — open, collaborative, and non-hierarchical
We recognize the need for each of us to have different responsibilities. Any decision-making responsibility is born of trust and respect.
If something seems worth questioning, it’s encouraged to question it.
We are interested in co-creating many different spaces to meet different people’s needs as well as spaces for us all to come together.
So far the initial spaces that we’ve co-created have focused on conversation and dialogue as a starting place, but we’d like to explore other avenues of interaction, including how we go about meeting all of our needs, while exploring openly how we’re going about it.
All we’re doing is intended to be questioned, evolve, change, grow, and die.
